Nike Romaleos Vs. Reebok Olys
as the thread name implies I'm trying to decide between the reebok oly shoes and the nike romaleo oly shoes. As of now i have the rogue do-wins which i like, but there starting to fall apart and their a little to heavy to use in metcons involving DU's, box jumps, muscle ups etc.
So im wondering if anyone has experience with either (or both) of these shoes and can give an opinion on which i should get and why. I follow outlaw programming so i snatch and C&J 5-6 days a week and squat heavy twice a week. |

Why would you use *any* oly shoes for double unders or box jumps? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me...

If you think Do-Wins are heavy I don't think you'll enjoy the Romaleos very much.

Reebok OLYs if you plan on doing DU and box jumps in them. FYI, I love using mine because of those attributes, but it can also be VERY uncomfortable.

Outlaw often programs heavy Olympic lifts in couplets with another movement for out conditioning. They have also programmed Heavy snatch work with double unders between sets (similar to regionals this year for the games).

I went from Rogue Do-wins to Reebok Oly and am very happy with the switch. I like the Reeboks a lot for Oly lifting and for squatting. They're good (not great) for doubles and box jumps. I recommend them.

Re: Nike Romaleos Vs. Reebok Olys
Reebok olys for sure.. the Romaleos (I have the original, not the ver.2) are like block of concrete on your feet. The Romaleo ver.2 is supposed to be lighter and more flexible, but I can't imagine they come close to the Reebok olys.
Just my $0.02 |

Re: Nike Romaleos Vs. Reebok Olys
yeah I too would suggest the Reeboks for outlaw programming. There's enough crossfit-ty type stuff in there that you need a crossfit shoe, not a strictly dedicated weightlifting shoe.
Reeboks are goods shoes. You'll like them. |

Re: Nike Romaleos Vs. Reebok Olys
That is exactly why your Do-Wins are falling apart. Just don on some cons or vibrams or some crap for your metcons. You're just gonna destroy a pair of Romaleos otherwise. $200 or two pairs of Do-Wins down the ****er.
Or you could buy a pair of Reebok Oly's. |
