DL+TTB+HSPU

That's my guess for 16.2

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I would think so as long as you deadlift it up first. Sherwood mentioned you could power clean it then do a front squat.

I think that would be permitted, as long as it touches the ground between each rep. These are the standards:

Quote:
The barbell begins on the ground. Touch and go is permitted. No bouncing or dropping and catching the barbell on the rebound. Once dropped, the barbell must settle on the ground before beginning the next repetition.

The athlete must pass through a full squat with hips below the knees. Receiving the barbell in the bottom of the squat is not required. A power clean or split clean followed by a front squat will be permitted.

The rep is complete when the athlete’s hips and knees are fully extended, and the bar is resting on the shoulders in the front rack position with the elbows in front of the bar.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

Ouch. Dan Bailey and his judge miscounted his squat cleans in the 4th round so he only did 8 of the required 9.

That's a bummer...

That might make the DU's tough. Do they make 48" diameter plates?

Shaquille O'Neal's affiliate could allow it. But I doubt the big man will be doing 16.2. Hahahaha

I actually would not expect hang cleans to be acceptable. When you stop in the hang position, you change the exercise. I've never seen a competition organized by HQ where a hang clean would be acceptable with standards written that way.

If someone wants to email HQ and ask, that's cool. But I don't expect that we will allow hang cleans as valid reps at my gym based on the written standards.

Re: Crossfit Open 2016

I would think that hang cleans, that start from the floor would be allowed. Doing a hang clean that starts with a DL does not give a serious athlete an advantage over a traditional (squat) clean from the floor. Unlike using small plates for bar over burpees that does give an advantage.
