Question Paleo or Zone?

Relative newbie here but 100% committed - 4 months on CF and firing it up 3 days on / 1 off. Prior to this was heavy into running and biking.

M/35/6'5"/205lbs: too lean for my goals of taking my fitness levels to a level that can support MMA style training and aggressive XC mountain biking. I am currently not on any specific diet plan but have been toying with both Paleo and / or Zone diets.

Initially, because of the flexibility of food choices, I was keen on the Zone but found multiple posts on CF Forum saying that Zone shouldn't be for the leaner athlete - true? Paleo was more applicable - true? Any input?

Thanks!

Re: Paleo or Zone?

If you say you're already too lean, you don't need to be concerned with Zone ratios. Just eat Paleo in large quantities and you'll put on quality weight assuming you keep working out hard.

Re: Paleo or Zone?

If you're going to do anything worry about quality first -- Paleo.

If you need to weigh and measure for something like weight loss/gain then use Zone or just eat less/more.

Re: Paleo or Zone?

Thanks Guys, will be going Paleo then - appreciate the input... Have found a few websites dedicated to it but do you have a particular site you'd recommend to follow?

FYI I live in Indonesia so no decent access to books on Paelo - I just need to go with what's online...

you can also check out

He refers to it as the "primal blueprint" but it's essentially the same thing. Some good articles on paleo living, recipes, and general info. One of my favorites.

Re: Paleo or Zone?

Do paleo...keep track of how much and it'll probably end up pretty close to zone with some extra fat.

Thanks Jason - I guess it's the same question you all get from most people who really start firing it up on CF. I do appreciate you all taking the time to help lil' ole me out!
