Crosstraining/Additional Sports

What else do you do in addition to CrossFit? How often?

We try to have one-two WODs per day, and in addition I do aerial dance up to twice a week, roller derby (I've been in derby for almost five years now, and it's taken a backseat to CF recently), and typically some 30 day challenge or another with other derby skaters and/or with my kiddo.

How else do you stay fit?

Re: Crosstraining/Additional Sports

I use cycling to help with longer endurance stuff. I was riding a lot more before i started CF, and like you, its taken a backseat for the most part. I still enjoy it, and it really lets me get away and clear my head without taxing the body too much. Plus, with some added muscle from lifting i look better in my cycling kit

Re: Crosstraining/Additional Sports

I like to do Yoga.

Since I teach at a college, and I can take classes for free, I try to take a class every semester or two in a different sport or movement modality. So far I've done golf, tai chi, feldenkrais, an "ab/core" class, interval training class, several PE classes (such as "teamwork exercises" and "lifetime fitness"). I signed up for a swimming class this semester, but it was cancelled last minute.

That way I am living the "regularly try and learn new sports" part of the CF code.

Re: Crosstraining/Additional Sports

I do Olympic Weightlifting twice a week right now, which basically means I sit a lot and get up to fill my water bottle and pee at the JuCo while listening to music and FB on rest breaks. I also help out the Jr lifters and watch ppl do silly stuff in the JuCo gym.

Besides that, I like to keep my old martial arts skills fresh and hit the track for sprints and intervals 1-2x/week. 2 days a week I do some strength and more conditioning/CF stuff. At home with the martial arts, I occasionally do some stretching or rudimentary gymnastics on my yard or rings.

Re: Crosstraining/Additional Sports

I am about to add inline skating in to my routine. I expect to do it 1-3x/week. How often I *actually* do it will depend on how many bones I break each week.
