Re: tabata

Tabata Something Else is the only one I've seen on the main site. It's in the FAQ.

CrossFit Endurance does tabata runs and CrossFit Football does tabata deadlifts and maybe others.

Re: tabata

You could always add in a few rounds of Tabata squats, box jumps, burpees, sprints, bike intervals, or whatever you want after a WOD, but being able to do so may be a sign you're not hitting the WODs hard enough. CF Endurance usually recommends doing their WODs at least 3 hours before or after your normal CF WOD--I think the main reason for that is to ensure you can hit both with enough intensity for them to be useful.

Re: tabata

My affiliate does tabatas as part of the warmup sometimes. After the WOD, people are generally too fried.

Re: tabata

FYI for iphone users: "There's an app for that" You can get a Tabata timer at the app store.

Re: tabata

i saw a video on the mainpage that was alternating tabata: deadlift 225lb, L-pullups...
So-
4 round for total reps
20 seconds deadlift 225
10second transition
20 sec L-pullups
10 second transition back to DL

looks sweet but i dont have anyone to help with timing and recording reps

Re: tabata

There's been some Tabata WODs in times past. Here's one from 04 and "Tabata This!" was last done in 08 it seems. Also check out Coach Mike Rutherford's article "Dr. Tabata and the Dumbbell."

Re: tabata

Also, be sure and download some music with tones added for timing. Makes it so much more pleasant. Google "tabata music" or something like that.

I wasn't around for "Tabata This," but I really enjoyed "Tabata Something Else" (Marchish or maybe April). I really hope it comes back around. That was an awesome WOD.

Re: tabata

I love Tabata workouts. Quick and effecient way to add some extra ouch to your workouts. I usually add in Tabata's on strength days or the last day of the 3 day block, to increase my METCON ability, which pretty much sucks.

Usually will Tabata 4 intervals at a time, some combination of Burpees, Thrusters, kipping pullups, or sprints. Tabata deadlifts are unreal too.
