starting CF again , hows my nutrition?
I took a way overly long break from CF, ended up being six months of eating crappy and smoking and just general sloth .
Anyway, I started back at CF this week, hit a wod yesterday and plan to be consistant in 3-4 wods a week. I havn't dialed my nutrition in as of yet, mainly because this first week my goal is to get my Wods done on a consistant basis, and not smoke. Previously I followed the zone diet, and ended up following it a little looser then most. I didnt want to measure, and found it almost too much for me to follow. I'd overthink everything, get frustrated, and fall off the wagon. I stuck to eating clean, and less worried about amounts. I tried Paleo for a bit , but never stuck with it long enough to truly say I have tried it. I'd likt to try Paleo again sometime, but dont want to attempt too much at once. So this is what I've been doing, and striving for nutrition wise: clean foods: I'm 30, 6'3", and 275lbs. I have around 55lbs of fat to loose. I'm fit around 218-220. Ex of one day of nutrition: Breakfast: 2 eggs, and a piece of fruit . or protien shake when pressed for time lunch: meat ( fish, pork, turkey) salad or another veggie and a piece of fruit snakc: cheese or beef jerky, or just some meat, and a piece of fruit ( often a p shake when pressed for time> Dinner : meat again, like pork, chicken ets, veggies and a piece of fruit. snack: usually some nuts and beef jerky. The meat I eat is usually palm size and thickness. The questions I have is, Should I be more concerned about tracking exact amounts of food? Am I eating enough? Do I need some form of post workout shake or meal? Thanks |

I do keep a food log, but I eyebal most of my proportions. I dont see a need to buy a scale and weigh meats. I just go buy palm size and thickness.

Re: starting CF again , hows my nutrition?
most main dish meats I eat are 6-8 ounces. I generally buy cut portions so I can easily grill and eat. ( I despise cooking so I try to keep it simple and convenient)
I guess the main question I am asking is do I need to worry about carbs, calories , protiens etc... keeping track of numbers that is or is it more important to focus on the type of foods I eat? I see and read so many conflicting things on this forumn. |

[QUOTE Should I be more concerned about tracking exact amounts of food?
][/QUOTE] At 275 you can probably focus on just eating 5 to 6 balanced meals a day and be fine, but if you have a weight loss goal your trying to achieve I would personally count calories at least for awhile. Quote:
The key to weight loss on the nutrition side is to slowly lower calories over the course of achieving your goal. You'll be far better off in the long run if you keep calories fairly high for awhile, and then slowly taper them down. Quote:
