Honor system for retail

Do any of you have "honor" system in place for retail such as drinks, snacks tape? What have your experiences been? Thanks in advance, Mike

Re: Honor system for retail

we have a shop sheet at the front. we ask clients not to yell to the coaches what they are taking rather write it down. we enter it each day and process purchases. Big thing is to regularity do your inventory (weekly) if anything seems out of sorts do a gym email stating you are short on inventory and did anyone forget to write down an item?

loss is a part of store ownership but we have always had ppl come back apologizing that they forgot to write down a bar or water.

I saw the exact same scenario at our box and it seemed to work out OK. however the level of retail offerings were very small and it was more a favor to the members than a profitable venture. Generally speaking depending on your box and location I've found the honor system to work out pretty well as the crossfitters I've been with are all pretty faithful/loyal to the success of their box. typically....

Re: Honor system for retail

Our box is kind of on the honor system. The member says they got a Kill Cliff then its up to the coach to debit their card or collect the cash.

I went to a gym that a friend owns. The are really on when you wish to get a drink. On like a positive thing. They would ask what type of kill cliff so that they could track the inventory and find out what flavor sold the best. I admire that hands on type of commitment to the business.

We are willy nilly and I am sure we hand out some free drinks and bars.

Keeping the honest people honest is a way to think about it.
