Your mom needs to hear this about CrossFit

Do you have a hard time expressing to your mom why you "abuse" your body by doing CrossFit, powerlifting, or olympic lifting? Is she constantly giving you reasons not to? "I heard your kidneys will fail..." or "You're going to get a hernia..."

Well, let me give you a little help. Copy the text below, forward it to your mom, and wait for her phone call. Let me know if you had a good response.

Forward this to your mother. She wants to hear from you.

Hi Mom,

When you asked me the other day why I'm still doing that weird CrossFit thing, I couldn't think of the right words to answer you. But now that I've thought about it, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your concerns, but the benefits I'm seeing from doing it far outweigh the chance of getting injured.

Since I've started lifting heavy weights and working my body so hard that I'm on the verge of vomiting, I have developed a sense of self-confidence that I have been working to develop since becoming a teenager. I know now that I can achieve great things. I know now that when I was little, and you told me I could do anything, you were right.

You did and amazing job of raising me and preparing me for a world that can be challenging. You taught me that those challenges can be overcome with patience and love. But now I am preparing for a different world. A world where I have the strength, courage, and dignity to face any problem with confidence that I will succeed.

Thank you for raising me well. I hope that you see the positive changes in my life that pursuing greater fitness has brought me. If you ever want to come to a CrossFit class with me to see what it's about let me know.

P.S. You should be eating paleo too...
