Hey guys. My home gym is nearly complete. I'll post pics once this last part is finished. I want to add a Wall Ball station, but I can't decide the best material to use for the actual wall ball target.

My plan is to drop a wood post (10ft above ground and maybe 4ft underground). Connect a supporting member behind the target that goes down to the ground at a 45 degree angle to reinforce the post. I am unsure of what to use as the target. Should I make a plywood box out of 3/4" plywood and and secure it to the top of the post, or should I get a piece of metal.

I would like to make the whole thing out of steel (i.e. a metal pole like in chain link fence) and a sheet of metal as the target. I am unfamiliar with metal working, so any suggestions as to the best way would be greatly appreciated.

I searched this site, but couldn't find much. Thanks in advance.

Jim

I don't have an answer for you, but along the same line, I was wondering if a standard basketball backboard would stand up to the heavier weight. IE could you use a basketball setup at a park or would it damage it.

Aptdwler. I like that idea. Maybe you could just get the Basketball Hoop Pole and mount a metal sheet instead of the actual back board. Don't know if you can buy these pieces individually though. Sounds like it might work though. I plan on using up to 20lb medicine balls so it needs to be tough.

James, there are industrial supplies that sell all the stuff you need for roadside signs (stop signs, etc.) I think a standard stop sign would hold up pretty well as a wall ball target. Why reinvent the wheel?
