Hey everyone,

Just recently (2-3 weeks) i've been getting some fairly sharp pain in my wrist during snatches. I can clean and jerk without problems (multiple reps at 90% yesterday) but when i go to a wide grip for snatches the pain gets bad even with 50% of max on the bar.

My coach said it might be a scaphoid problem and one of the other coaches thinks it might be one of the tendons. Anyone have ideas?

I'm going to go see a physio about it but thought i'd ask here too.

Narrow your grip just a little bit and see if that helps. When I do snatches or OHS's for reps I'll wrap my wrists - something else to consider. ICE and ibuprofen post workout help too.

i had the same problem and narrowing the grip helped a lot. I would also suggest doing some wrist/forearm/grip exercises to strengthen the area so the problem doesn't occur again. Exercises that strengthen the wrist in like your doing a handshake helped me.
