Question PWO - Maltodextrin+Protein

What's up guys and gals. Wondering if anyone takes/has taken maltodextrin (along with whey protein) for their post work out recovery.

If so, why and what are your goals and how long have you been using it

If not, why and what are your goals

Also quick note, I just started the Warrior diet and my goal is to reduce fat % and increase lean muscle mass/endurance!

Thanks for your thoughts

Not trying to mean, but you should do a Google/Forum Search before posting a question. It's very likely it's been answered before, even on this board, in which case, why rehash old news.

Hi Dimitri,

Sir, that was not mean, it was both offensive and abrasive. Ya ball-buster! (kidding, haha) thanks for the tip buddy

Found some good stuff for anyone who comes across this thread and has the same question:

I will also test it myself

Dimitri, instead of wasting your time writing nonsense just answer the question its not just going to benifit the op it helps everyone and yes there is plenty of things that get brought up everyday but "research" is forever changing and as always if you do have info its greatly appreciated

Ive been taking it for at least 2-3 months now. i only use it on days where i do burners/breakthing based workouts that last 10+ minutes of work (ex- fight gone bad, cindy, long metcon etc.). On regular days i just take whey. My goals are to add some more muscle and just perform better all around, and i find it helps me recover better (more noticeable on two a days).

FWIW OPT & Poliquinn recommend that the leaner you are the more carbs you should take post workout but if your not already lean (single digit body fat) just focus on protein PWO until you get lean.
The levels of ''leanness'' are based of of the biosignature modulation where different skin fold measurements are taken from 8-10 body parts.
I had this done by my coach who is OPT nutrition certified.
Overall though if you want to experiemtnt with it though you can start with a low about of malto and see how you react (a lot of people get GI issues).

best of luck and hope that helped,
Evan

Re: PWO - Maltodextrin+Protein

and if this helps this is my exact PWO Shake regimen :

Strength days:
30-40g Whey
10-20g Glutamine
5g creatine

Strength + Metcon
25g Whey
25g Dextrose
5g creatine

If its just a straight long metcon day, i may add some more maltodextrin or dextrose ( i use interchangeably) but thats the basic breakdown

Carbs after a strength workout are a good idea too. Glutamine, by and large, is useless. It does a bit with immune system stuff, but taking horse-doses of 20g PWO pretty much does nothing.

Maybe, ill try and drop it for a week or two and see if theres a difference. And in regards to carbs after a strength workout i do get some within 45 minutes via my post workout meal. I usually do the aforementioned shakes based on the day as soon as i finish training. Then ill shower and drive back to my dorm and have 6 eggs or 12 oz bison and a sweet potato

Sounds good. I might have to start buying some bison, sounds amazingly awesome.
