Fat Free vs. Sugar Free Coffee Creamer?

I'll start off by saying I love Coffee. I drink about 2-3 cups every morning. Currently I use the Fat free Coffee Mate creamer in my coffee when I don't want to drink it black, which is about half the time.

I eat about an 85% paleo diet which is helping me with my goal of leaning out. The caloric content with both creamers are (I think) equal, but from a macro-nutrient/paleo perspective, would you guys suggest it be a better option to use the sugar free fat containing creamer or the fat free sugar containing creamer?
OR does it not even matter? I'm a newbie by the way. Thanks for the advice.

I'd use real cream. It's going to be less unhealthy than any pseudo-cream alternative.

Generally the fat free creamers are all sugar. If there is no sugar in that generally you will find a highly processed chemical version of a creamer.

I would go with a full fat creamer like coconut milk.

What do you mean by pseudo-cream alternative? Is what I'm using not real cream?

I'm still learning the food rules, haha.

Wow, I had a look at the list of ingredients in what I was using. It's nearly a mile long with all kinds of crazy things.

I'm just going to throw this junk out.

I think you just answered your previous post...

Heavy cream is the way to go. Or coconut cream if you're avoiding dairy.

Even if you are avoiding dairy you will probably process heavy cream just fine. Plus, caffeine is fat soluble so you'll get more bang for your buck with your coffee.

Re: Fat Free vs. Sugar Free Coffee Creamer?

Kyle,

The heavily processed crap they put in all FILL-IN-THE-BLANK-"free" creamers will kill you, man. Stop using it.

If you want cream in your coffee I suggest using a teaspoon or two of real heavy cream from grass fed cows... Natural by Nature is the brand I use. Half and Half is good too. Such cream is high in awesome ruminant fat. Ruminant fad (fat from animals that eat grass) is filled with goodness like CLA (conjugated linoleic acid... google it) and a comparably high percentage long-chain Omega-3s.

If you're "85% paleo" that doesn't say much. But if that means you still buy into the notion that fat is somehow bad for you and should be avoided, you haven't figured out yet what it means to eat in a way that duplicates the metabolic milieu of paleolithic human beings.

You need to read Dr. Kurt Harris' blog "PaNu" ... get on it!

Use real cream and don't worry about it.

It doesn't really matter which you use if you're only having it in one or two cups per day.
