the triple bypass at the Vortex is a half pound burger with a fried egg, tons of bacon, cheese, and lots of mayo slathered on...oh and instead of buns, they use grilled cheese sandwiches..... quite possible heaven on earth and probably lives up to the name

In Chicago:

Kuma's Corner - huge burgers on pretzel buns, crazy variations all named after metal bands http://www.kumas-corner.com/food.html

Hackney's - the inside out burger with onion rings.

In New Orleans:

Camilla Grill - great burgers on butter buns and an awesome staff.

Re: Favorite Burger Place

Off the top of my head my favorite burger is the Double BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger at Cheesecake Factory.

The most insane burger is the Eagle's Challenge Burger at the Eagle's Deli in Brighton, MA:

I see thats a 5lb burger. Theres this show called Man vs Food where a guy travels around eating ridiculous things and at one spot he was served an 8 lb burger. Don't know where, don't know if he 'won,' I don't really watch tv and just happenned to see a commercial at the in-laws.

The Reilly burger, which was the predecessor to that challenge was created and named after my good friend and football teammate from highschool Shawn Reilly. It was 6 half pound patties, 12 slices of cheese etc....and 5lbs of fries and a half gallon of orange soda. The kid was on talk shows and everything after that happened....unreal. He's not THAT big either.

I vote for fudruckers though

Odd that, my favorite in Dallas is Twisted Root (http://www.twistedrootburgerco.com),YOU MUST ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE! which also features gourmet root beer in strange, sometimes wonderful, sometimes god-awful, flavor combinations.

Re: Favorite Burger Place

Nick's Tavern. Lemont, IL (Chicagoland)
fried, not grilled 2/3-lb'er. only choices are: raw onion, grilled onion, pickles, relish, cheese. Served with Vitner's chips.
I'm a White Sox fan, and Nick's is a Cubs bar. But for the best burgers around, I can stomach the Cubbie Blue!
