Finding Rings

Hi, everyone, I recently moved, now the gym I'm in doesn't have rings. The old one didn't either, but they had those straps people place on bars to do leg lifts, which functioned as a suitable substitute.

Now I can't do muscle-ups, so I was considering bringing some in to use. Are there such portable ones? If so, where do you recommend getting them from. Keep in mind, portable is the key word.

Re: Finding Rings

Trevor,

Welcome to the CF Forum! I need to order a set for myself (my globo has none) and am told the Elile II rings are good. I think you can Google them and I believe they are available through Amazon.com. They are about $75 + tax and shipping and come complete with a long strap with a seat-belt type set-up to adjust the length. Seems like they are well worth the price. One guy who works out at my globe has a pair.

Thanks for posting the link, Derek! I couldn't remember it.

More links (all wfs):
Xtreme Rings
Rogue Rings
http://www.trainingrings.com/
American Athletic Gymnastics Lexanİ Rings - Pair
MD Gymnastic Rings
PowerMax Fitness Rings
Non-gymnastic rings that some people use instead:
Seattle Marine Purse Ring 8" Plastic
Nylabone Giant Nyla-ring
Invincible Chains Triple Large Dog Toy

You can also check eBay. They often have some for sale, and many of them are the bent PVC type and the plywood type that many crossfitters make.

I just ordered the Marine ones. Couldn't bear the thought of working out with Nyla-Bones

Re: Finding Rings

I have rogue rings. Hand crafted US Steel made in USA.

I like them a lot. The straps are excellent. Good customer service.

Re: Finding Rings

Can't recommend steel rings. Sure they are bomb proof, but they are heavy, and cary risk in that they can swing and nail someone. We've seen teeth busted out with steel rings. There's just not a need for steel...

Re: Finding Rings

However, if you are on the go and looking for an improvised weapon just in case, the Rogue rings would be pretty handy. I was thinking of that recently when I had a stand off and the bloody light rail late at night.

Getting smacked with the rings if they swing, which is common should you let them from a variety of things, is another reason I reccomended the elites or extremes at the gyms I've been at ( from a safety pov ).
