What do you do when you are tired?

I am just curious what everyone does when they do not get enough sleep or are just plain tired? Needless to say I did not get enough sleep last night because I had to work late. So what do you do. I would love to hear your comments.

Chris

Eat more than normal, nap, and then get a full night of sleep, on top of the nap.

Lots of water, good food, and just suck it up.

Napping is such an underrated experience. I highly suggest it when able.

Re: What do you do when you are tired?

If I'm tired because I didn't get a good night of sleep, then I just suck it up and do my workout and just go back to getting my normal 8 hours that night and I'm fine the next day. If I'm just tired in general for no reason then I usually do the same... push through the workout that day. Usually I'm fine the next day. If I'm not fine, then I'll take a couple of days off (1-2).

Taking a day off never hurt anyone either. Naps, food, water, a rest day etc. all do wonders.

One unscheduled day off won't kill you and may save you from injury or sickness depending on how fatigued you are.

If you must workout after a subpar night of sleep... espresso shots do the trick just fine.

I eat a big breakfast and pretend it never happened. If I string a few bad sleep nights together I might tone down my workout, but usually once I start my warm-up, and get focused the fatigue fades.

Re: What do you do when you are tired?

After a hot grueling run and a day at the gym I decided to go home have a tuna sandwich. After the sandwich food coma crept in and I slept a few hours on the couch. I was a new man afterward.

Lesson?

Fish is your friend & napping isn't just for toddlers.

Re: What do you do when you are tired?

How much sleep does everyone normally get. I usually get around 7 to 8 hours of sleep. I had to work late last night and I ended up getting about 5 hours of sleep. Hence the reason that I was exhausted this morning. I really wanted to get up this morning and do my workout but I figured that an hour more of sleep would be better for my body. Thanks for the pep talk guys.
