After Christmas I went running. Near to the end of the run I started getting pins and needles in my right foot. The next morning, my foot had swollen up and was very painful to walk on. The ball of my foot, and second toe were massive.

After going to the Doc, he said rest it for a few weeks, so I did. 5 months later, I can walk on it but have a slight limp, but if I try to run on it (i.e.: today’s 5k WOD) the next day it would be swollen and painful again. The second toe has never gone down, and is still swollen. I’ve had an x-ray and they didn’t find any broken bones.

The reason for posting here is quite simple, the Docs just keep saying rest it, but after 5 months I don’t want to rest it, I want to go for a run!

Any advice/help is appreciated.

I would look to another Doc. I'm not one, but almost sounds like a chronic infection or abscess. I know MRIs are expensive but 5 months of that would make me almost desperate enough to pay for one out of pocket.

Get it checked out by a good foot and ankle specialist or sports med doc. Could be many things.
