What is it with the giant fighting robots? Giant robots would be an entirely impractical means of waging war. Now TINY robots, THERE is some potential

Re: Bleach

Woooooo, an anime thread! Yes Bleach is awesome if you ignore the filler arcs. The Hueco Mundo arc, and the 'Aizen going to the real world' business which was just starting in the anime before this latest filler arc, were/are both brilliant.

Other anime that I have watched and loved include:
Naruto (Shippuuden is great)
Cowboy Bebop
Death Note
Hajime No Ippo (every human on the planet needs to watch this)
Rurouni Kenshin (great series, but even so the OVA was much better)

I'm currently getting into one called Darker Than Black, which is very good so far. Also the remake of Hellsing (Hellsing Ultimate) was pretty good.

I looked briefly at One Piece as it's so popular, but it just looked bizarre. Worth persevering with?

I love Cowboy Bebop. So much jazzy style!

I picked up some Death Note manga from the library because I had heard it was pretty cool but was disappointed. It was such a great concept, a fantastic setup for an intricate cat and mouse game; one mind pitted against another. It just didn't live up to that. And maybe it was just poor translation, but the dialog was terrible. Perhaps the show is better, or perhaps my expectations were too high.

Re: Bleach

The Bleach fillers have lame stories and as you know there can't be any consequences or development for any major characters, there's little emotional involvement. And, if you've read ahead in the manga, you know there are some extremely good things coming up, so they need to hurry the hell up and animate them! Grrr.

And as for Death Note, I haven't read the manga so I can't comment on that. The anime, however, is extremely good up until about episode 20 where the main characters change and it just goes downhill after that. Very good up to that point though.

Also, just to reiterate - everyone needs to watch Hajime No Ippo. Everyone. I'll even give you a link. Just for the love of the Japanese language please hit the switch for subtitles and not the dub. Please oh please.
