Re: 45 1/2 bodyweight thrusters

OK, so I went to the gym, doing the 45 thrusters, which I haven't done in some months.

Result: 45 thrusters! ... split in sets of between 16 and 5. DAMN! Former PR is 21 as far as I remember.

I think I have to focus more on hip drive, meaning the current training will be geared towards jumping squats, jumps, snatches and a whole lot of push presses and jerks...Also I need to crush my wrists with a sledgehammer every morning to toughen them up.

Re: 45 1/2 bodyweight thrusters

all right...disappointing results.

i still had some significant residual soreness from doing fran and weighted dips this week...but i decided i'd try the 45 thrusters today, after doing some climbing.

the end story: a measly 15 thrusters (70lbs @ 140bw) in the first set, then 8 in the second. strangely enough, when i did fran i used 80 lbs thrusters, and completed it.

anyway...i think i'm going to wait a couple days and hold off on pushing motions, let my shoulders and traps get back to normal...

Re: 45 1/2 bodyweight thrusters

Tested again. 3 sets of 21, 13 and 11 with approx. 1.5 min. rest between.

Today I'll test if I'm capaable of doing 45 consequtive front squats with 1/2 bw and afterwards 45 push presses 1/2 bw. If I can't do one or neither, then I'll have to refocus training.

How are the other competitors doing?

i'm trying simultaneously build up the metcon for this test AND climb really hard at the same time...so it's going slowly. next time i'm in the gym i'll give it another go.
