Unhappy Started 5x5 stronglifts program a month ago and...

...seeing some real good gains!

Coming off a sedentary life for a year, working at a startup with 12 hour days staring at a computer in an "ergonomical" office chair and eating the free pistachios in the kitchen.

I needed something simple, started 5x5 squatting at least 3 times a week, and have been at it for a month.

In the past I was always scared to go beyond parallel but yesterday did #245 5x5 ATG-which I know is a low weight-but for me coming back from not hitting the gym in a year is a pretty big accomplishment.

Also what helped was short video by Rippetoe where he asks his students to look down-about 5 to 10 feet-ahead of you instead of straight ahead and when you're at the bottom of the squat push up with your ***.

That basically changed the game for me, now I think I'll able to go 315 1RM ATG, but I'm going to keep going with 5x5 Stronglifts for another month until I start with that.

Question: If I'm doing #245 5x5 ATG squat, what do you think roughly would be my 1RM? I'm 190 lbs btw...

270 - 280 is a 1RM achievable for you.

You normally ratio 1:1.125 for 5RM==> 1RM

I assume you're still meaning ATG and only 1 working set across, not 5?
