Fitch, kos, and other AKA out of UFC

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/upd...nagement-15235
W>F>S article about UFC cutting fighters.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7w-P...mmascraps.com/
NWFS interview with Jon Fitch about getting cut. Has some bad language.

UFC cuts top fighters for refusing to sign lifetime exlusive contract for video game. This does not make the UFC look good to cut 2 of the top of fighters in the world and over a video game.....This is lame.

Thanks for the info, just checked the article. That sucks he ended up signing but i guess you do what you have to keep your job. I feel like Dana has done a lot for the sport of MMA but he needs to clean up is mouth if he is going to be the face of a "professional" sport..

I was ****ed when I first heard about Fitch getting dropped. From the sounds of it, Dana had nothing to do with Fitch coming back. Lorenzzo Fertitta had to step in and get him back. Dana has done alot for the sport, but all he sees is dollar signs now.

This stuff is nothing new - it's been going on for a long time. It's just the sport is popular enough that things like this actually get reported to the public.

Back in the old days it was Randy Couture dealing with this kind of crap and the UFC spent a bunch of extra money to literally airbrush him out of their advertisements when he wouldn't sign the contract they wanted.

Part of it is that the UFC has such a monopoly on the industry. EliteXC has already shut the doors haven't they? Does the IFL still exist? They bought Pride, and there's WEC and now Affliction. But UFC is like the Microsoft of MMA. They have so much money and market share right now that they can do pretty much anything they want to their fighters (and are notorious for how poorly 90 percent of their fighters get paid) because...well where the heck else are they gonna go?

WEC is UFC owned. IFL closed. which sucks cause they had some great fighters and not all have got picked up. Affliction and overseas is really it for fighters besides UFC.

Very good point. Hopefully a promotion will come along that's MMA's version of Apple. A great product that just works. I watch UFC because I can't really go anywhere else. If there was a better promotion out there I would watch it. And I think most other MMA fans would do the same.
