Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

121

Went unbroken on the OHS till the first round of 14, then I did 8-6

CTB I broke from the get go so I didn't exhaust them. 5-5, 5-5, 4-4-4, 4-3-3-2-1 then the last round was basically doubles or singles. I was pretty dead by then.

Going again Monday. I had like 20 minutes to stretch out (bad shoulders) and no warm up time before my heat was ready. I felt super rushed. Not sure what more I can do, but hopefully if I'm not so scatterbrained going into it I can eek out a few more reps.

Does anyone else do their pullups in that fashion and still get a good time on, say, Fran? Or better yet, did anyone do this on 14.2 and get passed round 2? I do realize this won't put me near the top of any leaderboard but I would rather be smart about this. I'm confident I can move through the OHS pretty quickly
Someone at our gym did all single pullups and almost made it through the 3rd round (14s) only missed it by 3 reps. She has been doing them this way for a year, though so is very used to the pace of dropping down and jumping right back up very quickly. You may not be able to cycle them as fast as her since you're not used to it... Advice is to use a low bar so you don't have to jump very high.

Thanks. OHS were a struggle. I was able to power through the first 2 rounds of 10. The 8 I got in my round of 12 took everything I had. I failed 2 or would have done a little better. Shoulders are screaming right now.

Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

I got 262 reps. Unbroken on all OHS, and broke up the c2b into 2 sets right from the beginning. Nice long break between each movement, and then finished each round with time to spare for each round up to the 16s. On the 16s I broke the c2b into 3 sets at least, and still finished with about 10 seconds to spare. After that, I just did what I could on the 18s.

262 is solid Michael. I got half way through the 14's....I was hoping to do alot better. My hands didn't rip but they are pretty tender so another run on Monday is questionable because I would like healthy hands next week.

Are you allowed to wear triple ply sleeves for this? I ordered them ages ago, but I've been told that they're banned in some competitions, which is annoying, as I wish I'd ordered double or single.

Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

Still fairly new to crossfit (only been doing it for about 7 months) but did 14.2 today and managed to do 19 reps. Had no problem with my OHS but just can't get high enough on my C2B, must have failed like 15 reps. Thinking about giving it another go on monday but try changing my grip to palms facing towards me!

Re: 14.2 strageties/ scores

I got 70 which I am very happy with due to my OHS weakness. Chest to bar were the easy part for me. I just can't for some reason hold weight overhead with snatch grip. And I don't have the flexibility to bring my grip in at all.

Nice job. Same problem here. My shoulders are freaking aching right now.
