Achilles Pain, I think???
I know there are a lot of previous posts on here about achilles pain, but I don't know for sure if the pain I am having is coming from the achilles tendon.
My pain is on the inside portion of my foot, between the tendon portion which is directly above the heel, and the ankle bone that sticks out on the inside. If this makes any sense, if you were looking at the foot facing forward from above, it would be at about 4:30 on a clock, with the heel and the achilles tendon at 6:00. Is that the achilles? I'm guessing this might be some kind of tendonitis? I have NEVER had any pain in this area until the last three days. I didn't do anything to injure it, haven't worn any new shoes, or done anything different in a WOD that I haven't done 100 times before. And it went from nothing to quite uncomfortable (and it causes a slight limp) in only three days. Worst pain is when the foot is flexed/extended in any way, like going up stairs or standing on tip toes... |

Re: Achilles Pain, I think???
Read this wfs
http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2010/1...g-on-the-feet/ Then this wfs http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2009/08/on-tendonitis/ I'd say given location and exercises that hurt it's likely some tibialis posterior tendonitis.... I suppose it could be flexor digitorum longus or flexor hallucis longus as well. If it's anterior to the pulse of the tibial artery then it's tibialis posterior or FDL. If posterior to the pulse it's FHL. Basically you're gonna wanna strengthen your foot muscles and do tendonitis protocol for the tendon. Massage, etc. outlined in the tendonitis article. Ice if it helps. Doesn't resolve in a week I'd see a doc or PT to get it checked just in case. DO NOT WORK THROUGh PAIN. |

Re: Achilles Pain, I think???
thanks for the links. Massaging it definitely helps.
So I read that this can be caused/exacerbated by wearing shoes with support, is that true? I use Inov8's for CF wods, but I wear regular running shoes or tactical boots throughout the day, but I have been doing that for years so I can't figure out where this could have came from. Like I said, I haven't gotten a new pair of shoes in a while so this is wierd... |

Re: Achilles Pain, I think???
Yes, padded shoes usually alter biomechanics which can do odd things.
Or it could some overuse/wear and tear if you recently did a lot more running Or it could be something like you slept funny |
