What muscles does it work on the most
I am getting ready to start my workouts next week after getting things in order. I have had some suggestions on how to start but i was wondering which muscles or muscle groups i work on and where am i going to see changes on when i do specific exercises. Over time i will ask about other exercises but i am wondering tonight on kettlebell swings.
thanks Richard Pennington |

Re: What muscles does it work on the most
What are your goals?
But overall, you want a program that is going to work most if not all of your muscles. Following the mainsite is a good starting place or using one of the basic strength training programs like Starting Strength, 5/3/1 etc. Kettlebell swings are a good posterior chain exercise and decent conditioner. |

Re: What muscles does it work on the most
Don't worry about working muscles, worry about working movements--running, jumping, squatting, throwing, pushing, pulling, etc.
Someone had a quote (Charles Staley?) for some a kid asked him what muscles a clean and jerk worked. (paraphrased) "You know that muscle when you run across the middle, jump up to catch a pass, bounce off a linebacker, take it 30yds into the endzone, then hook up with a cheerleader after the game? Yeah, a clean works that muscle." |

Here is the simplest guide to the major movement types:
Push Pull Squat Midline Stabilization We can get more complicated if you like, but that pretty much covers it. |
