i recently picked up a ghd at a second hand sporting goods store. i'm using it for wods with back extensions, adding back bends / sit-ups into the mix for balance. what other exercises can be performed on this type of machine? i have heard of side extensions but i am aprehensive due to low back paid in that range of motion? also, is it ok to bend all the way back on the sit-up?

wow. thank you. very excellent book. just what i needed. i'm glad i didn't over do it on the ghd yet. i began with a grease the grove approach and do 10-15 reps per set spread throughout the day to break in the muscle groups. i tried to adjust the foot pad closer but couldn't budge it. probably why the machine was at a used shop. it suits my purposes just fine in beginner level mode.

thanks again

A good ab exercise is to do db bench on a ghr. Prep yourself as if to do a ghr situp, have somebody hand you an appropriate size db or kb and keeping your abs and back tight, perform presses on one side, then on the other.

Aushion,
Thank you for the link. I just bought a GHD and this is indispensible to getting the most out of it without killing myself.
