perhaps I am wrong, but I have always included a jump at the end of the burpee, not just returning to the standing position. definitely adds another dimension to the routine. Dale

I have too. And at crossfit Santa Cruz they do too. I think Lauren Glassman posted that the one modeled is out of the book they are highlighting lately. Lauren also makes you say "wheeee" at the jump or it doesn't count!

The burpee usually referred to as the "officially accepted" CrossFit standard is:

... with both the jump at the top and a pushup at the bottom; you can get quite a rhythm going with these.

There is a good link on the left side of the above same "Teaching Progression for the Power Clean, Jerk and Power Snatch"

http://www.athletics.ucr.edu/strengt...ing/tprog.html

I have been exercising and lifting for 30 years (writing that makes me feel so old) and the stuff I am doing now is way more advanced than the stuff I did when I was the same age as my kids are now. I am trying to coach them on powerlifting and olympic lifting and I have just learned by trial and error. I may be trying to have them do too much too soon.
