DIY Bumper Plate Rack

Made this rack for my bumper plates with PVC. Works out pretty well cause you can roll the weights on and off the rack without lifting them a few feet in the air. The whole rack weighs under 10 lbs.

Lei, that's awesome. You should post instructions.

Re: DIY Bumper Plate Rack

Great idea; I've been looking for a more elegant way of managing my iron plates. I wonder if they'd be ok to use with the PVC...

Re: DIY Bumper Plate Rack

Awesome! I second the plea for instructions. My wife would love to see my DIY rack go away for something like this.

Re: DIY Bumper Plate Rack

I use one that's a variation on Clay's:

The rails supporting the load are wide enough to keep the plates firmly in them without rolling, but close enough to allow down to 2.5lb plates.

Clay, I used your original specs for my current rack. Works like a champ. The wife gives me grief everytime she walks by it. Lei's design might do the trick for her.

Re: DIY Bumper Plate Rack

I didn't think of making one from PVC, very cool idea.

I just built one recently that works great in my garage, which is kinda cramped b/c a car lives in there too

Just 2x4s, four 3/4" threaded pipes, and four flanges. Affixed to wall studs with 3 1/2" lag screws. holds my 10, 15, 25, and 45 bumpers and more w/o any prob.

You may need to paint it some significant-other approved paint color.
