Coach,
I'm curious. I've noticed that you tend to like regular pushups. It would seem to me that Hindus DiveBombers and other Pushups might meet more Crossfit criteria by challenging more of the whole body and balance. Why do you tend to favor the traditional pushup? What do you think about our doing other pushups within the Crossfit Workouts? |

MICHAEL-
Check out the Crossfit journal for a more detailed explanation of the pushup but here is a breif explanation. The Crossfit methodology has an individual progressing (ideally) from a "basic" pushup, to (after many years) a free standing handstand pushup with many many milestones and transitions in between. This progression alows for adaptations which are impossible with any type of high rep PU scheme (which is where most Hindu PU and standard PU programs go). By all means use these other PU varieties but keep in mind that the athletic attributes created when one emulates the training progression of gymnasts are simply unparalled. This is part and parcel to the Crossfit Foundations. Robb |
