Flexibility Assessment

I've looked through old posts and bounced around on the net for a bit looking for flexbility standards and haven't what I'm looking for.

Something along the lines of a typical healthy adult should have X range of motion in their arms or be able to stetch this far.

Actually my mom is interested in this, so something for 50+ populations would also be useful.

Has anyone seen anything like this or have any leads?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Flexibility Assessment

The overhead squat is an excellent place to start. It tests upper and lower body flexibility at the same time. The average trainee SHOULD be able to squat to at least parallel without losing lordosis in the lower back, keep the heels on the ground and keep the bar or broomstick lined up directly over the ankle bone. Most people will have trouble with this.

Re: Flexibility Assessment

Good point, Lincoln. That is the kind of simple thing that I'm looking for.
