It seems to me that working out with nunchakus work be workling the external rotar cuff. Can anyone confirm this?

I use nunchakus in between sets

All you need to rehab/prehab the rotators is some stretch tubing. See:

As an ex baseball player I have suffered from a delicate rotator cuff and painful impingement for years. I did isolation exercises to rehab and they helped but since I started crossfit things have changed. My shoulder isn't delicate anymore and I feel confident throwing and reaching in basketball when in the past I would have been worried about tweaking it. I can't say I wouldn't do iso exercises if I hurt it again but I can say that prevention is the best and for me that is handstand pushups and all the other combined moves that strengthen this area.

Scarecrows: Light DB's or plates in hand, arms hanging straight, palms down on thighs. Head straight, chest up, perfect posture. raise arms up to the sides, upper arms horizontal, bent at elbow, lower arm bent at 90 degrees (like an iron cross with your arms bent down), palms pointed behind you. Now rotate from shoulderso your bent arms are pointed up (iron cross with lower arms pointed up palms now pointing forward). Reverse to start position, this is one rep. Hard to describe, easy to do, similar to the cuban press. light weight high rep, couple of sets. Needless to say keep perfect form and you'll be suprised the burn you feel.
