Crones Disease and Paleo

We have a new client who is pre type II and also has Crones Disease. For other pre type II folks we have had HUGE success with Paleo. But, she supposedly can't eat a lot of veggies due to the crones as it quickly causes diaria. Can anybody weigh in on this topic, please?

Re: Crones Disease and Paleo

Beth, do a quick google for Crohn's and gluten....there's such a large link between gluten intolerance and Crohn's disease (and IBS for that matter), i think it's borderline malpractice for doctors, PARTICULARLY gastroenterologists to NOT recommend gluten free diets for their patients. it makes me so angry.

There are definitely veggies that your client CAN eat that don't have that immediate reaction. Get her to do a 30 day paleo stint, and demand that it's 100% gluten free. her markers will improve and i would be VERY surprised if her crohn's didn't resolve itself

Re: Crones Disease and Paleo

Paleo should fix it.

When the bowel is inflammed any change in diet may cause disturbances. I would expect this to be fairly normal when switching any sort of macronutrient composition or diet.

Unfortunately, it's a side effect of having to get on good food again.

Fish oil, which she should be taking, may do the same thing as well at first.

All gluten needs to go.
