Questions on Protein

I am struggling to get enough protein throughout the day. I am 194lbs. and do not have enough time throughout the day or funds to get my recommended amount of protein.

Should I supplement, and if so, what is a good protein supplement that I can integrate into my paleo diet?.

Yes, search for a good protein supplement...but it won't be paleo.

Re: Questions on Protein

Three things...
1) Eggs
2) Hemp protein shakes (mixed with almond or coconut milk)
3) MORE eggs!

What I've always followed is about 1 gram per pound.

When going with protein, make sure it came with something with a face. Whey, casein, egg, etc. I use Nitrean from At Large Nutrition.

Although Nitrean is quite expensive, I like what I've read about it. Thanks for the tip.\\\

What are your goals?

What is your body comp?

What is your programming like?

Hemp is quite expensive - I've never actually experimented with it.

Eggs are cheap. Whole milk is cheap. Ground beef is cheap. I've heard good things about grass-fed whey (http://talktomejohnnie.com/supplemen...ence-wholesale WFS)

Re: Questions on Protein

With both Whey and Soy being out due to paleo, I personally chose hemp mixed with almond milk rather than make an exception. I also had been a long time frequent headache sufferer till paleo, happened to have some soy protien I decided to use up about 2 months after going paleo.. and bam immediate and severe migrane, until that point I would never have connected soy with my frequent headaches, but obviously now I will never be going back to soy.
Hemp is a bit expensive, but for me I need something specifically for post workout (and occsional pre-workout) when I am not really ready to down something solid, so it it worth it for me. I try to use minimal "supplementation" and get my protien from foods, so yea eggs are my mass cheap source of protien and there have been some other excellent suggestions for others, but I personally don't think I can get around having a protein shake in my diet as well and it is extremely time effective.

Here's a decent general overview of the benefits of going with hemp with the source information linked to it. it doesn't really go into the kind of minutiae most crossfitters are interested in, but if this looks positive to you, I'm sure you can dig in further yourself. Really it comes down to finding what works for you, and what serves your goals.
