Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

I'm giving this a go starting tomorrow.

Been slowing changing my diet the last few weeks and felt it was time to just go for it since I got rid of a few habits along the way.

Any good ideas for breakfast to start or links for breakfast recipes.

Eggs, Onions, Salsa, Apple, Olives, Almonds, is what i believe i have ready to go for tomorrow till lunch when i go grocery shopping.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Greetings all!
Tomorrow is Day 1 of a 6 Week Weight Loss Challenge at my local affiliate - BGI South in West Palm Beach. We did another 6 week challenge a few months ago and I went strict Paleo for it. Then my husband and I went on vacation for a few weeks (not horrible food-wise but a lot of booze!). Then it was holiday time. So this challenge can't come at a better time for me!
I've been crossfitting since March, 2009 and have seen some great results. I lost 35 pounds (found 7 of them over the holidays!). I want to lose another 25lbs and then see how I look/feel. I am already at just about my lightest adult weight so the next 5-25 will be quite a change for me.
Well, here's to a happy, healthy, gluten free new year!!

Im counting today as day 1 again. I cant handle any small cheats. Need to get the body off the addiction of the bad stuff. Not going to be easy, I have 4 days off this weekend.

I think its a great idea to start a threat for the after 30 day challange.

How many days left now Tamara and Diane?

Im going to do the 30 days no alcohol and no cheats at all. Need to stop making bullsh** excuses.

seven pounds in ten days, nice work Diane
I'm on day 10...so 80 more to go!

Haha, I eat so much more than 2 apples a day. For breakfast, I usually have either 2 cups of melon/pineapple or a banana or 2 clementines (since they are in season now). Then, another cup or two of melon/pineapple at some point for lunch or snack. Usually either an apple or a banana for lunch or dinner. And, I eat dried fruit. We get the bulk dried fruit from the natural grocery store - it's just fruit, no citric acid. I eat the bananas, mangoes or pineapples...mix with nuts. So, that is really a ton more than a lot of Paleo peeps eat. But...SIGH...I was down to 135.0 lbs this morning.

yeah, though why the egg white? ...just eat the whole egg.

I was having 2 slices of bacon and 3 eggs scrambled in the bacon grease, and an apple.

This week I'm just having 4 eggs scrambled with a little butter (Kerry Gold - grass fed pasturised etc), and an apple.

Depends on your goals regarding nuts etc - I'm trying to lose fat so I've dropped the nuts (as it were) to see if that helps.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

Overall goal is to drop some weight/fat.

So instead of nuts what should the fat be in there.

Like for lunch.

Chicken, veggies + what fat source?

Don't forget that chicken contains fat! No need to add fat sources - this isnt the zone

Meat and veg is fine for lunch, (Grass-fed beef would be the best meat choice)

Though if you want to add fat, add an avocado or some olive oil or coconut oil etc.

...this is just what I've taken from Robb Wolf's podcasts anyway (I'm certainly no expert)

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

I know the Zone is big on having P/C/F at every meal so I figured Paleo may be along the same ways as well.

So chicken and veggies for lunch and that's it.

And if I want to add fat just use olive oil instead?

Can I add almonds some days (1oz serving with the meal) to shake things up a bit or to calorie dense for weight loss.

I do CF 3-4 days a week and swim (not hardcore laps though) with the wife (pregnancy) 2-3 nights a week.

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

I think I have 90 more days left of my 100 day No Alky challenge. I'm not sure I'll make it that long, but I will get through this month! I am not really missing it, YET. And I sure feel good!

I went to a Paleo Potluck last night, and this morning I had leftover this for breakfast. It was really good! From one of my gym-mates:

Quote:
I like oatmeal! So, I substituted butternut squash and it is delicious! I cut up the butternut squash in to chunks and boiled it for 20 minutes. Then I mashed it up, added flax seeds, blueberries and bananas. I love it!
