Obstacle Course Workout

This is some footage of a Japanese game show of some kind that involves complex and interesting obstacle courses. It's safe for work. (It sure looks fun!)Note: These are straight up obstacle courses, not the funny stuff on SpikeTV... :-)

A lot of hand and gymnastics strength involved!

The show is called Ninja Warrior. You can find it on the G4 network. I stumbled upon it one sunday morning and got hooked on it. I would love to train on some of those obstacles.

The first time I caught this show, it was what they called the Level One competion. Pretty neat stuff, but kind of slapstick at the start. Contestants with funny costumes mixed with the serious athletes. I thought it was an upgraded version of MXC. I saw it again a few weeks later on the Level Two, Three and the Final Challenge and it was amazing to see the things they were doing. I was particularly impressed with the horizontal traverse of the hanging curtain and the climb up the 70' tower.

There was talk at one time of getting a CrossFit team together for Ninja Warrior. No idea if anyone is taking it seriously, though.
