Squat Clean - need major help
I've been out of the game for 7 weeks, and the olympic lifts have never been my strong point - so please tear 'em up.
Thank you http://youtube.com/watch?v=05WLSwWNIJs (safe link) |

Re: Squat Clean - need major help
your legs look a little wide, although thats just a matter of personal comfort...definitely they're too slow/not explosive enough coming up...other than that they look pretty clean

You tend to bend your arms before you are reaching full body extension. Watch the video by quickly clicking pause and play throughout the movement. This way you can step through and see what I'm talking about.

Re: Squat Clean - need major help
Early arm bend and not enough of a double knee bend. These are related, as you aren't getting enough pop out of your hips and thus are trying to add additional arm action. It won't work well with bigger weights. Right now the bar is 2"-4" away from your thighs, entirely too far away from your center of gravity. You need to pull the bar into your thighs so you can get into a better, more powerful jump position. You must condition yourself to delay the jump phase (the second pull) until you feel the bar against your thighs. Try to pull the bar in so close that it tugs on the hem of your shorts. Also, get your elbows up higher and sooner when racking the bar.
The stance width doesn't especially concern me compared to the other issues. |

Re: Squat Clean - need major help
yeah you definetaly need to be more explosive once you get past your knees. Also your catching the weight at about half way down your squat the weight should come up quick and then you should catch the weight at the bottom of your squatting position...
