Kip Help
Here is a short clip of me doing "kipping" pullups. I am having a hard time getting into a rhythm with them, and something about the way I am doing them is tearing my hands to shreds. I have a tear about 1-2 times a month! Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks -Sean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSPy-Hz6WRA WFS?? Comments welcome! |

Re: Kip Help
Push back harder at the top. And snap into the pull harder (with your hips), you're "floating" towards the top and having to finish the arc with a slow arm pull.

Re: Kip Help
What brandon said. I find having a slight pause at the top helps me keep cadence, and I like to think of driving my shoulders forward at the bottom to get the right swing.
As for shredding your hands, it'll happen. try changing your grip so you aren't rolling any skin over, like tuck the bar into the base of your fingers, and not the pads at the top of your palm. (i don't know the fancy names for stuff...) Look for the threads on maintaining calluses and taping your hands for when they get messed up. Lots of good info there because no matter how you grip it, it will happen. |

Re: Kip Help
Yeah, I see what you mean about the "floating" part. Will work on that some more tomorrow, thanks!
