basic metabolic pathways

I made this as a study aid for a biochem class last year, and it occurred to me that it might be interesting to some of you who are particularly interested in macronutrient metabolism:

http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0...MzIyNmVm&hl=en (wfs)

You'll need to zoom in quite a bit to see any of the detail or just download a copy to make it easier. I'd like to ultimately add more pathways to it, particularly involving the different metabolism of different amino acids.

I've made a few of these sort of concept maps - some of the other ones (broad human physiology - cv system, endocrine responses, etc) are here - http://cavemenetc.blogspot.com/p/projects.html (wfs)

Enjoy, and let me know if they're useful for you at all.

Spencer

Re: basic metabolic pathways

As I zoom in, the text boxes get fuzzy. Not sure what a good fix is for it. I'm interested, let me know if anyone else is having same issues.

Re: basic metabolic pathways

Hmm, Google Docs must not do well with huge pdfs. I guess the only option is to download it (link in the upper left) - I checked and this downloads the full res file. Thanks for letting me know, though!

Re: basic metabolic pathways

This is my favorite image for metabolism.

Pretty much shows... everything.

Re: basic metabolic pathways

My high school biology teacher had that poster up (or something similar). The color scheme is clever - having different colors for proteins vs fats vs sugars...I'd like to do that with mine, too. The amino acid detail is pretty cool, too, because it makes sense of things like phenylketonuria... if I had more time and ability with programming, I'd like to marry my biochem and physiology concept maps to a 3D rendition of a human body. This would also point out why particular AAs and vitamins and compounds facilitate recovery after lifting or eating during a marathon or triathalon or whtaever.

Is there a higher quality version of that image?
