Krav Maga books/vid's/training info

Hello all,

I recently started doing Krav Maga to learn some self defence and put my crossfit training into practice.

I am absolutely loving it!!!

I pretty much cant get enough, i attend both of the centers class's which run for 1.5hrs on Mon and Wed night.

I have a pretty close friend also attending the class's and when we get time we like to train together on the weekend ect.

But i would still like to learn more, im pretty smick with all the history of KM but im looking for more a technique manual ect.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers
Jake

Re: Krav Maga books/vid's/training info

Personally I recommend not buying any books/manuals/dvds etc. While it is great that you are so enthusiastic and hungry to learn, you will not properly learn much, if anything from a book. You need an instructor to explain things, see them in person, FEEL the techniques, and be able to ask questions.

I know the desire to accelerate your learning will be enormous, but a good instructor will properly regulate the amount of information you receive and the particular techniques you can/should do.

Perhaps in time when your skills and, more importantly, your understanding has increased, then you can look to outside sources for ideas. If for nothing else to approach your instructor and simply ask "Hey I saw such-and-such a technique, but we have never done it, do you feel it has any merit?"

Just my .02c

Re: Krav Maga books/vid's/training info

Thanks for your reply David.

I figured as much, I always try and learn as much on any specific thing I'm doing, i used to be very into boxing and i learn ALOT from books, videos ect before i started training with a coach.

I agree that the degree of learning will be no where near as good as with an instructor but i was hoping to have at the very least a reference for when my friend and i train together to just double check we are doing it right.

Cheers
Jake
