What do ya'll think of these set ups? I was thinking of making a purchase. Which one would be the most versatile?

James, I'd say the two handles would be more versatile. I have used a similar homemade rig for and it is great for chins, pushups, and dips. The only thing you can't do is a false grip for muscle-ups and other gymnastics moves, but I don't have the ceiling height for that right now anyway.

Awesome! Yeah, I was leaning toward the two handles. I wanted to score some of the power rings but it looks like they're outta business.

Cheers

James - I doubt the power rings are out of business. I saw some errors on the site when I bought mine about a month ago but I wrote to them and it all worked fine. I adore my rings and use em for a lot more than pull ups. Worth the effort to get ahold of them.

Power rings are not out of business, I recieved mine about a month ago!! CALLING TYLER. Get the powerrings and a pullup bar. Its kind of hard to kip using non-fixed objects, like rings.

Guys,
We're not out of business. Hurricane Frances knocked out my server and I'm not sure when they'll be back online. Hopefully in the next few days.
If you want, you can e-mail me at tyler@powerathletesmag.com and I can do my best to help you out.
I would be cautious about using rolling handles as rings. In a support (top of dip position), the last thing you want is to lose your grip and fall. For pullups, I'm sure they're fine and probably work the grip really well.

Ahh, sweet thanks Tyler!

The last time the site was up it said the rings were sold out and then things went dead. Sorry to hear about the storm, I hope that the servers were the only thing damaged.

They're actually not my servers and I'm pretty far from the hurricane. It's my webhost that got destroyed. It will be a few days before I get my DNS pointed to a new server. By the time I'm back online, the rings should be back in stock.
