Read this interesting article about how having parasitic worms can potentially boost your immune system.

Personally I'm not up for eating worm eggs to boost my immune system but this is quite fascinating, and the fact is we probably had a lot of worms in the paleo days.

I seem to remember some models doing this to keep their weight down while allowing them to eat all the crap they wanted.

I've seen reference to this before. Also, apparently some "parasites" grant their hosts relief from allergies.

I think it is in the archive here somewhere... was basically inquiring as to why when sanitary conditions have increased that allergies have not decreased at the same time.


That is repulsive.

Part of the idea behind the "good bacteria" in our guts is that they stimulate our immune system *constantly* in a positive way. The same may be true for certain types of parasites.

Ultra-hygiene has not helped our immune systems to become stronger, that's for sure...
