Aurora WoD

Hello my fellow Crossfitter's:

By now I am sure you are all aware of the events that took place in Aurora, Colorado. This is certainly a time for us to remember how precious our time is here on earth. Our community is about comradery and a since of coming together to support each other through difficult times, or in our case difficult WoDs or ladies. This community is a feeling of respect for one another and for those are have fallen. Just as Ghawi's brother stated we should remember the fallen.

Well here is my new WoD. I say we all get together and create Aurora, and every year on July 20 this will be the WoD. It is our way of showing respect for those who have fallen to someone who would commit this cowardly act. There were 12 killed and 58 others injured. So I say we make it a 12 exercise WoD, 1 for each fallen person, that totals 70 reps. My reason for posting this is to gather ideas of what should be included in this WoD, since we are a community everyone should get a say in how this WoD is conducted. After several posts have been made we can gather to see what the top 12 suggestions are for exercises and then portion out the number of reps for each lift. I hope all of my fellow CFs join me in creating a WoD that shows respect for the fallen on July 20, 2012.

Blake

Re: Aurora WoD

12 exercises but the rep total will be 70?

Whatever we do, I vote for Muscle Ups to be in there...12 Muscle Ups?

Re: Aurora WoD

Alternative idea: Use the ages of the deceased and add something on for the 70.

wfs http://www.collegian.com/2012/07/21/...ct-in-custody/

Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6
Micayla C. Medek, 23
Alex M. Sullivan, 27
Jessica Ghawi, 24
Navy Pertty Officer 3rd Class John Thomas Larimer, 27
Matthew R. McQuinn, 27
Alexander “AJ” Boik, 18
Rebecca Ann Wingo, 32
Gordon W. Cowden, 51
Alexander C. Teves, 24
Jonathan T. Blunk, 26
Air Force Staff Sgt. Jesse E. Childress, 29

So perhaps:

6 muscle-ups
23 box jumps
27 cleans
24 deadlifts
27 toes-to-bar
27 thrusters
18 handstand pushups
32 situps
51 double-unders
24 pullups
26 ring pushups
29 kettlebell snatch
70 squats

Or something along those lines. Whether these movements or not, I really like the idea of using the ages as the rep counts.

- Mark

Re: Aurora WoD

I like that format as well. I have often used it for conditioning with my gymnasts. If a kid was 6, we would do 6 reps. If they were 11, we did 11. If they were 10 and said 8, we would do 18. If they were 7 and said 9, we'd do 9.

Fun way to put in little breaks while doing one exercise.

We will use that format when doing conditioning in a circle.

All those kids died? Neat! I love when people die, it's such a cool opportunity to think up new WODs.

This was completely inappropriate, sarcasm or not.

By that logic, every hero wod would be inappropriate. Why is it inappropriate to do something in honor of a tragedy? It wasn't inappropriate until the sarcasm came in.

And something I can agree with Darryl on 100%. I knew it would happen one of these days. Since I don't feel like getting a lifetime ban just yet, I'll keep the rest of my comments to myself for the moment.
