I go out snowshoeing hard for 1.5 hrs on Sunday. Tired. I do Fran today in a new PR of 7:38. As one poster put it look at the following 10 min. I was on the floor.
What is it about Fran that makes this combo so devastating? What goes on physiologically?
I look forward to your thoughts.
Kevin

One of the Journals this year dealt w/ disecting Fran and why its such an absolute mother. Check out Lynn pitt's FAQ page for the index. The biggest thing is the thruster moves your center mass (hips) and a weight (loaded bar) the most distance (around 24 and 28 in, respectively). That is going to hammer the best of them.

Grady, doesn't that journal article also mention the deadly duo of thrusters and pullups effectively calls into play every major muscle of the body? Wherever it was, I remember reading that tidbit from Coach Glassman.

So burning out the entire musculature of the body in less (and in extreme cases, WAY less) than 10 minutes is going to hurt a little.

Uh, 3 . . . he failed to capitalize the last name. This might be a workout, even for Grady.

True 'dat. Maybe we'll have to add a weight vest to the Tabata HSPU!

I don't know the science behind it, but when people in my gym came up to me and asked if they should call 911, I knew I had done something out of the ordinary. I felt weird for the rest of the night, almost like that feeling you get when you stay up for 24+ hours with little food. You know, when your skin starts crawling, nothing is really sore, but everything aches ... hard to explain - but I've never had that from a workout before. Even Tabata This and Angie didn't bother me nearly as much. Fran totally kicked my butt!
