I got one at my local tire store, it was actually a tire for a lifted pickup truck. Go down and talk with them, if they don't have one they will know someone who does (usually). Most likely you will get it for free since they have to pay a disposal fee. Make sure your vehicle has room to haul it, my Scion is going to look really funny...

George - Find a tire store for large vehicles like tractors, earth movers whatever. I've gotten two from a place called S & S Tire that services large vehicles of many types. They have to pay to dispose of old tires and have no problem giving them away. I have a 200 pounder and a 300 pounder and they work great. Go to your phone book and look up tire stores, get a pickup and go tire shopping.

Tim - though I do happen to have such a scale in my bathroom, I did not put to use for such a purpose. I had the tire guy look it up and he gave me the exact weight of the lighter tire which I rounded down to the 200 pounds and he gave me the weight of the second tire as 3 hunnert and somthing but I forgot what it was so I am just calling it 300. Which is within 30 or 40 pounds. Great tool that can be used in quite a variety of ways. Today we had three girls on the small tire and three guys on the big one and we flipped it down the street about 50 yards with all three flippers jumping into and then out of the tire each flip. We also used them for box jumps and a medicne ball drill where we did a squat clean, jerk and then a jump on the tire with the ball held overhead. We beat the tires with sledgehammers and clubbells and we lift them overhead. Gotta have tires.

Eugene, we have been wondering how to tell how much the big tires weigh at Brand X. I did the tire flip, jump in, jump out as a "Spartan" race (demolished by my competitor!) Saturday and that sucker is HEAVY.

Look on the tire for the identifying numbers and write them down. Go to a big tire place that sells those kinds of tires and have them look it up. You will get the new weight which will not be too much more than the worn weight.
You could also go to some truck scales or the dump and during a slow time have them weigh it for you. |
