Re: Houston XF

Quick and sincere vote for Carlos and Lisa at CrossFit Houston. They are great people, and have everything (equipment and knowledge) needed to take your training to the next level.

Frankly, I love those guys.

Mad props,

Mike D.

Re: Houston XF

It's across town from Kingwood, but I worked out once with Grace and the guys at Atomic Crossfit. Good trainers, nice box.

They have a drop-in rate of $20. I'm sure you can call them to discuss...

Re: Houston XF

I have been to four of the Houston affiliates. And two of the other three of the others.
Crossfit Houston
Great facility. Great Equipment. Great People. Carlos and Lisa are awesome.
Bayou City CF
Great facility. Vic is still building equipment but does well with what he has. And Vic is a super knowledgeable and genuine guy.
Crossfit Champions
Great facility. Lots of good equipment. I have met Matt a few times, don't really know his wife at all. Matt is really knowledgeable.
Crossfit Sugarland
Great facility. Growing equipment. Grace is really knowledgeable and helpful.

I have also met Scott at Crossfit the Woodlands once or twice. Can't really comment on his facility but he seems like a good guy. And I know he is a Crossfit beast.

I have met John at CF Breakaway Speed. And did FGB III there this fall. Lots of good equipment, he is in much larger sports specific training facility. He is a good guy and very knowledgeable.

I have not met Neal at CF Katy. Been to a few events that he attended. Seems nice.

I am in the process of opening CF West Houston. Finishing paperwork etc.

The CF community in Houston is really vibrant and everybody helps everybody. It is a really good environment and can't go wrong at any place. You seem to be closest to CF the Woodlands.

Re: Houston XF

I know every affliate is different in some cases only slightly and others extremely, so I'm curious to see what you mean by rate them? What are you looking for in an affiliate? Are you looking at member size, equipment, box, types of workouts, coaches experience, number of coaches, the facilities, member abilities (meaning number of people doing RX'd/scaled WOD's)? What would make you decide on one over the others?

Re: Houston XF

I apologize.

I recently moved away from Kingwood to the Galleria area so Kingwood is not actually my home location. (I was disappointed I didnt find out about the crossfits in Kingwood while I lived there).

From reading other posts it looks like most have great facilities.

The next thing would be equipment

Next, who all works there. I'm 25 so I wouldn't mind a place with younger people.

Re: Houston XF

In that case I would say go try them all, I think most of us give at least one free class to newbies. Get in touch with the trainer(s) and drop in at the time that you would most likely attend and see if the class is what you're looking for. You get to see all the gyms and get a feel for the trainers.

Re: Houston XF

You can't really lose with any of the CF gyms in Houston, everyone I've met or talked to about their gym is very knowledgable. I think it just comes down to which one is more conveniant for you.
