Re: Dad bragging on 6 year old daughter

I have a 19 month old daughter who is sometimes forced to sit in one of those activity center things in the garage while my wife and I work out. She's obviously picked up something, because any time there's a horizontal bar she can get her hands on she either tries to pull herself up over it or grabs it and squats up and down past the bar so it looks like she's doing pull ups. She loves dad-assisted burpees too. Hopefully she'll just naturally progress into working out and being active by watching her parents. Glad to hear it's working for you, Warren!

Hey Warren - great story.
I could do with someone like her to work on my 3 boys - they like to "do some fitness stuff" with dad from time to time. But your girl - she's an inspiration!
45 rounds - priceless!!

45 rounds? She sounds fairly sado-masochistic. Are you related to Roger Harrell any chance?

"Gym-kids" as I call them, kids who basically grow up in a gym sometimes have the potential to become great athletes while taking in all the positive enrichment by being active in the formative years before grade school.

A lot of the children's psychology tends to lends itself that more active young children=more stimulated brains.

Ok I asked this question before but it wasn't answered.

I was told when I was younger that lifting weights too early can stunt your growth. Is there any truth at all to this or did someone just not want me to lift?

Do some searches on ************.net

Basically, BS.

Interesting enough, there is also a rumor that gymnasts grow a few inches after retiring. However, this is probably due to extra resources in their body allowing them to grow. I'm talking Elites here, which are roughly 1% of all gymnasts out there.

Re: Dad bragging on 6 year old daughter

You cause more damage to growth plates and all the things that WL is supposed to do to stunt your growth playing soccer... which is what kids do because it's "safe".

So avoid soccer and lift weights. It's better for you.
