Try it and see what happens. My 'schedule' is somewhat random, and I still make gains and am happy. 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off, 4 on, 5 off, 1 on, 2 off..... life gets in the way of 3:1 or 2:1 for me. Remember that cavemen didn't think, "oooh, I killed a mastadon on Tuesday, climbed up a cliff on Wednesday, and was chased by a tiger on Thursday, so I'm gonna rest today. Tomorrow I have some boulders to lift...."

Re: Hybrid programs

Eddie, I work a 1 on, 2 off at the FD. On my 2 days off I have plenty of time to train without distractions. Most days I train I will do at least 2 workouts. 1 will be a wod and the other will be working on something I need improvement on. An example of this last week was a Olympic lift, heavy workout for 30 minutes at 1300 and then at 2030 I did grace, took 2 minutes of rest and did Tabata rows, total time was 10 mins. I try not to work similar movements with the same weights 2 days in a row. By the time I get back on shift, I am ready to rest. Do not be a slave to 3/1 or 5/2. Make the schedule work for you. Good luck.

for the record, what i meant was that, just because cavemen didn't think things out the way robert said doesn't mean that it would be a good idea for us to avoid planning things out, too. even according to that blog that robert linked to, science is working out in our favor over the caveman's lack of it.

cavemen didn't take aspirin -- so we shouldn't use it? "cavemen didn't do it" is a pretty poor argument.

now, "X works for us, for the same reasons that similar things worked for cavemen: it's based on a sound principle that gives good results," THAT is a good argument.

Re: Hybrid programs

Well to bring back and resurrect a thread from a short while back (although still quite relevant, I do notice something here. Not one woman posted anything!! Gant, or anyone else, I understand the importance of females gaining strength but would you offer any specific suggestions that may differ from those geared towards guys? Most specifically, as based on our hormonal cycles and changes?

I found that at certain times of the month, metcons can be more draining and others easier! Not really finding that an issue now with my Olifting (my sole sport currently). My issues now would be periods of decreased or diminished sleep quality!
