My first meeting with "Kelly"

Hello my friends,

I am a day behind so I am doing a little backtracking with yesterdays WOD, which unfortunately, was "Kelly".

I've been CF'ing for over three weeks now and this is the first time I have attempted "Kelly". Needless to say, I felt demolished by the end. I actually made it all five rounds as Rx'd except my ball is 16# instead of 20#. My time was 37:19, which I know is terrible but, I am extremely happy for even completing such a monster as this. I had three semi-strokes in the process but I fought through it and felt great at the end. Not to mention my running was in the rain.

All in all, it was great! Coming that close to killing yourself with such intense activity is all worth it in the end.

Good day to the CF community,
Have fun, train hard...

-David

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

I'm heading to the Y to try "Kelly" right now. I think I'm going to scale it to 15 reps for the jumps and wall ball. My back is a little iffy still. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

Well...I scaled "Kelly" back to the 15 reps per round. And for the 400, I had to alternate from the treadmill at 3.5 incline and the stair stepper because the Y's cardio stuff was full. As soon as I got off a treadmill, someone was there to take my place.

Today I got some stares. This cop buddy of mine came up to me and said, "Dude, you're sweating like a pig! What's up with that?"

I touched his shirt and said, "Clearly, I'm sweating way worse than a pig!"

You were right David, Kelly was tough. I'm good and sleepy now. I can't wait to do the Deadlifts tomorrow.

Have a good one tomorrow.

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

Nicely done Carl!

I will be hitting the DeadLifts tomorrow as well. I need to hit my 400# mark, I seem to be stuck at around 385#, It's really starting to get to me. Hopefully after a while of CF'ing I will gain the strength to blow that out. Let me know how your DL's go.

Talk to you guys tomorrow,

Have fun, train hard...

-David

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

I started fatigueing quickly during kelly and lost form on my wall ball and man did my back not like that. I took today off and am not really noticing anything. i should be good for tomorrow I hope.

Congrats on finishing though. I only made it to almost the end of the third round when I felt the pain and said "nope not going to keep going, I have had way to many back problems"

I hear ya Chad. Back problems are no joke. You're the best judge at when you can push it and when it's time to take a break.

Have a good rest...

Re: My first meeting with "Kelly"

Yeah, my legs are a little weak today. I'll be hitting the DLs early this afternoon. Should be interesting.

Good luck guys.

-Carl

Oh, David, your DL numbers are huge! I'm not even close to 300 much less 400!
