That's a crazy-looking rope. Any experience with it yet?

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

wow... good thing i read this thread... i was looking to purchase a BL rope this week.

I think my next choice is going to be this rope (WFS): http://buyjumpropes.net/speed_cable_rope.html

This rope looks both fast and tough. I have seen some positive reviews from other crossfitters so I want to give it a try. I just want to see if it is adjustable because I think it is a little bit too long for me.

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

yea i stored it on a peg for about a day and then i felt like there was a kink in it that would make the way it flys funny shaped like a "V" so i immediately changed the way I stored it....

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

Hmm, so far I've used mine everyday since I got it early last week. No problems yet, I put some tri-flow in the bearings and that made them spin better than they already did. I jump on hardwood and sometimes rubber. Store the rope in my gym bag, just crammed in there. I guess I should watch out for a break. I'm very happy with mine so far. They sent me an extra on accident. I emailed them and UPS is gonna pick it up from my house on Monday. Maybe I should grab the rope and bearings off it and just send the handles back.

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

Hm, first I've heard of the bad quality; I just ordered one a few weeks ago based on positive reviews. Guess I'll find out soon enough; probably shoulda just stuck with my cheapie, but since I mistakenly cut it too short I figured I'd splurge.

Hm, though--they do have a reputation to maintain; might be worth drawing their attention to this problem.

I wonder if their non-swivel-bearing ropes have the same issues--the aero speed or wotever it was.

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

I'm at three and one half years on a leather Everlast, like old-time boxers used. I use it fairly regularly, on a wooden gym floor. No problems whatsoever, and no sign of wear. I got 46 unbroken double unders on it one day last month, before I was gassed. Seriously gassed.

W/F/S http://www.everlast.com/everlast-jump-ropes.html

I thought I paid less than $15 for it, but that was in 2004.

as well the bearings are starting to make noise... I'm going to put some packing grease on them... but I never expected a $30 rope to fail so quickly.....

I know that they sell replacement ropes and bearings, but i really don't plan on buying every 3 mo if thats all they last....

I also find it pretty funny that the rope is $5, the bearings are $3
so that makes the handles worth $20....
They're pieces of sheet, man!

Two broken BL ropes here too but looks like my bad not reading the bit about storage. I like my cheapies better anyway.

Cheers, kempie

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

You can make a super fast rope with cloths line wire. Use a length of pvc as the handle, drill a hole in an endcap, feed the line thew. use wire to (cloths hanger will work) to tightly (this is key TIGHTLY) wrap around the wire to hold it inside the pvc. Use pvc glue to attach the endcap and pvc pipe. Mine has lasted years, cost next to nothing. You can make different lenght handles and thick or thin handles.

Re: Buddy Lee rope broke anyone else

I used one of the high end Duvide ropes and it was unreal! Ian Maclean the guy that engineered our rings bought the dG version and I was floored with the quality.

I don't know if that is necessary, I think most of the people on this thread are spot on with the leather and old reliables out there!!
