Allergic reaction to taping hands

I'm following these taping instructions for Kipling pull ups:

Which I understand are the standard taping instructions for crossfit.

I'm getting an allergic reaction on my wrist where the sticky/adhesive tape touches my skin. The reaction is lots of little itchy bumps on my skin.

Any advice on how to prevent the allergic reaction?

Re: Allergic reaction to taping hands

Use some athletic wrap (pre-wrap) around your wrist first, then tape over it: (wfs)

Also, you should be aggressively managing your calluses and make sure your grip is correct ("pulling" grip where the bar is under the fingers and not the palm). It is possible to do kipping pullups of a reasonable number w/o tearing up your hands and thus you should rarely need to tape.

Re: Allergic reaction to taping hands

I didn't know until now that there is such a thing as an allergic reaction to taping your hands. Thanks for the info
