Official WordPress users thread.
Since there is a Typepad thread and a Blogspot thread, I thought I would post a WordPress thread.
I've been using Wordpress since we affiliated and there isn't much I haven't discovered with it. If anyone here is using, or will be using, WordPress and needs any help, let me know. I'm also available for site building using WordPress if anyone is interested. Matt www.crossfitchampions.com |

Re: Official WordPress users thread.
Matt,
Is was great meeting you at the affiliate gathering in Vegas. It's good to see that you posted this here. Matt and I had a conversation at the airport about how surprising it is that more affiliates don't use WordPress. It's open source and free with most hosting plans. For less than $10 per month you can have your own site with your own domain that is highly customizable. Our CrossFitHB site is still a work in progress but I wouldn't do it any other way than with WordPress. Last year I paid over $4k to have my business website redone before I truly learned how versatile WordPress is. You shouldn't think of it as a blogging platform because there are some really sharp people on the web (Matt included) that have used WordPress as a content management platform to build full fledged websites. If I were to do my other site today I could purchase hosting, install WordPress and hire a WP coder to do the entire site (with a ton of custom features) for under $1k. For the types of sites most affiliates use, you can make an awesome, totally custom WordPress site for $200-500 total. If any of you are interested, contact Matt. He knows all of the plugins you need to quickly and easily add video and photos to your site. I promise you won't regret it. |

Re: Official WordPress users thread.
Hey Matt,
I'm glad you started this as I've been using wordpress for my blog (www.crossfitmilwaukee.com) the past couple months and have been pretty happy with it. The only issue I was hoping you could help me with concerns posted images. How do we get WP to adjust the image size for viewers with various screen resolutions? Several of my images get cut off on screens set at lower resolutions. I appreciate any help you can offer. Ryan |

That is most likely due to the fact that you are using a fluid width. I adjusted my screen resolution to the lowest setting and looked at various sites including yours. Every site that uses a fixed width doesn't mash or cut off the images...you just have to scroll over to the right to see all the site. In fluid width sites, like yours, the image, which is set in size, is being shoved into and cutoff by the right column. Matt |

Re: Official WordPress users thread.
Hey Matt,
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I did a couple of google searches, found what I needed and made the changes in the CSS script. Ryan |

No problem, Ryan. Site looks a lot better now with a fixed width.

Re: Official WordPress users thread.
Matt - I was wondering how to plug in a navigation bar right under or on the very bottom of the header:

Re: Official WordPress users thread.
So freaking confused...
Trying to set up my blog. Is there a basic tutorial or FAQ somewhere for wordpress? Lots of problems. Like, when I post it removes all my spaces, and I can't figure out how to imbed a video in a post. |
