Would it be plausible to adhere to the training methodologies of CrossFit, while running a facility that trains all boyweight exercises & possibly medicine balls?
Obviously you would not get the same progressive overload as you would with weights, nor would you get the major benefits of learning to manipulate external objects (aside from the med. balls). An example scenario would be running fitness classes in a yoga studio, or a corporate gym facility where extra equipment is not allowed. Clearly their are exercise modalities that could be employed under these conditions, but can CrossFit? BTW, this is my first post and I am new to Xfit :-) |

Just look to all of the gymnastics movements. There is a TON you can do without any weights. And if you have med balls that adds another whole raft of stuff to do. One of the great things about the crossfit concept is that in it's base form it can be done with virtually no equipment. Check the WOD and see how it can be modified to be weight/equipment free. There are a lot of folks that pretty much do it that way now due to lack of facility/finances to provide equipment.

I reckon you could do this, yeah.
Though it'd be nice if you had something you could do pullups from. And if you were allowed to bring stuff in, like sticks, boxes, etc. Just lightweight stuff people could bring with them themselves. But other than that I'd say HELL YEAH! Wouldn't be perfect but you'd still make people leave absoloutley buggered. That would be awesome actually, theres tonnes of stuff you could do. Indian Runs. Oooh, indian runs using sticks like Ricky Hatton does. Punching mits, gloves. Shadow boxing, squat jumps, situps, clap pushups, tumbling, all kinds of individual and group routines. |
